What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Nour AL Sham Foundation receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of the Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy. The Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of the Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

The Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.

The Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy.

Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy.

The Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy.

The Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, the Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

The Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to the Nour Al-Sham Foundation Alleviate the sufferings of poor and needy.

The brutally cold weather is taking its toll on the Syrian refugees. They are forced to survive the freezing nights in makeshift tents with no resources to keep themselves warm. It’s hard for them to protect themselves in the relentless cold without warm clothes, blankets, food, proper shelter and heaters.

At Nour Al-Sham Foundation, we are working hard to ease the situation and help those people survive in extremely cold winter. The Syrian refugees need support from donors and the charity more than ever.

You can donate £250 for a full winter package to help provide a family with 3x food packs, 2x blankets, 3x coal supplies, and one heater this winter.

Coal Supply

Help us supply coal this winter to the marginalized Syrian community for their heaters. This will help in keeping them warm in this extreme weather.

If families don’t have coal for their heaters, they will usually resort to burning other things in desperation.

They are risking inhalation of toxic fumes from the plastic and rubbish they burn to survive. Keep a family safe by supplying them with the coal they need for the winter.

£120 will provide a needy family with 3 months of coal supply.

Coal Heater

In these extreme weather conditions, Syrian children die in their camps because there is no heating.

Giving a coal heater to a family in the North of Syria who is suffering every winter from the extreme cold will provide them the means to keep themselves warm this winter.

The cold is forcing families to sit at home wrapped up in clothes and blankets trying to stay warm. Some who can afford to buy wood are burning it for warmth, and others who can’t afford to buy wood are burning items such as clothes, plastic, and rubbish in order to survive.

£30 will provide a needy family with one coal heater to use in the winter.

By providing a family with coal supplies and a heater you will alleviate their worries an you will keep their home or shelter safe and warm for their children and elderly.

Food Parcel

Food is scarce in the North of Syria. The economy is destroyed due to the ongoing war, therefore, essential food items have become very expensive.

This situation made it difficult for individuals and families to buy food to survive because they cannot afford the cost or had no money to spend on food. Our food parcel project helps provide a needy family with a food parcel that has essential food items for one month.

£100 will provide a needy family with 3 nutritious food parcels this winter.
